Cornwall
07/12/2021
Cornwall Council has
received funding that will mean it can continue to offer free school meals during the holidays as
well as offer further support to those most in need over the winter. Further information can be found on the Coucnil website: https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/council-news/health-wellbeing-and-social-care/council-awarded-4-5million-to-continue-free-school-meals-and-support-most-in-need-this-winter/
The Department for Work and Pensions has extended its Household Support Fund
(HSF) for this winter during the final stages of economic recovery in the wake
of the COVID pandemic.
It covers the period from October 6, 2021, to March 31, 2022, meaning that free
school meals will continue to be provided for eligible children during the
Christmas holidays and February half term.
The £4,528,569 awarded to Cornwall Council will also enable it to support the
households in most need with food, energy and water bills, as well as other
essential costs.
